“IF YOU HOLD TO “MY” TEACHING” … NOT MANS!...
John 8:31-36
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. ”33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free? ”34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Nearly 90 % of addiction recovery programs are based on, and led by the teachings of man’s philosophy. Yet God insists we should stay away from it and live according to, and abide by His Word alone! Colossians 2:8, “ See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.” If we’re serious about our addiction recovery, and want to be set free from our addictions, we must trust the words of Jesus in John 8:31-36! The many problems the world faces today with addictions began along time ago when mankind turned its back on God. God won’t deliver us from our drunkenness until we choose to follow His instructions in The Bible, beginning with repenting and choosing His Son, Jesus Christ as our Savior! Once we’ve become Born Again and Saved and Sober, we must continue following His instructions to the best of our ability, according to His will and plan for our lives. He will continue to test us with trials and temptations to build our Faith and mold us into the men and woman He created us to be! James 1:2-4 (NIV) 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
